NEW IWSR REPORT SHOWS IRISH WHISKEY EXPORTS UP 19%
Wednesday the 29th June - The Irish Whiskey Association has today welcomed a new report published by International Wine and Spirits Research (IWSR), “2016 US Beverage Alcohol Review”, which shows exports of Irish whiskey continuing to grow significantly in the US, with exports increasing by 19 per cent last year, surpassing the 3 million nine-litre-case mark.

The Irish Whiskey Association said that the Irish whiskey category is experiencing a revival in growth, with the US continuing to be the number one export market.

Miriam Mooney, Head of the Irish Whiskey Association said:

“This report confirms that Irish whiskey has taken centre stage in the US drinks market. Irish whiskey exports to the US have grown by 409% over the last decade. This trend is expected to continue. Irish whiskey is the fastest growing spirits category in the world and globally Irish whiskey exports are expected to double by 2020 and double again by 2030.

“The Irish whiskey category continues to differentiate itself in the US market and beyond due to the premium brand-led offer, reaching a new consumer.

“It is expected that the growth in the Irish whiskey category will also have knock on effects on other industries, like tourism, as US Irish whiskey consumer’s seek to explore the heritage of their Irish whiskey products. “
